I just learned two days ago. It's way more fun compared to an automatic!

If you don't know how, I suggest you find someone who does, and have them teach you. You won't regret it!

Yes, I do - and maybe more cars should go manual, then people can't talk on their cell phones or eat while driving! :D

I totally agree - I drive a manual and I love the control I have over the car. I will definitely teach my kids to drive a manual when they are old enough to drive. If you can drive a manual, you can drive anything. An automatic is just a toy.

Yes. It's what I learned to drive on. Of course, it was large, green and had "John Deere" written on it.

It's a little easier on the new manual transmissions. The clutch isn't as stiff and rough on the knees, so it's alot harder to grind the gears by not fully engaging the clutch.

I love to drive a stick shift. It's almost as much fun as being on a motorcycle, and much safer.

As a matter of fact I have my very first automatic transmission car right now, and I've been driving for 20 years! I love to drive stick, and drive fast, too. It takes getting used to driving the automatic and I keep looking for the clutch, but I'm getting used to it.

Good luck!

There are 6 steps to expertise what RPM to realize earlier you shift. * shop an eye fixed on the tachometer which measures the RPM. maximum tachometers have numbers from a million to 7 or a million to 9 that correspond to the RPM. Multiply the extensive style via one thousand to get the RPM of the engine. * Shift gears between 2,000 and a couple of,500 RPM for optimal engine performance. allowing the RPM to pass as much as 3,000 RPM or greater will improve velocity yet makes the engine artwork extra good, which reduces gasoline financial equipment. * pay attention for a purple warning mild or for numbers highlighted with purple strips. in the adventure that your RPM reaches a warning extensive style or a warning mild comes on, you may up shift in the present day. Over-revving the engine reasons damages and would reason oil to leak onto a warm exhaust inflicting a hearth. * pay attention to the engine. As youcontinual a handbook transmission, you of course strengthen a RPM ear that helps you already know whilst to shift. the speedier the engine turns, or the extra RPM, the louder your engine gets. * Calculate the superb RPM for moving using kit ratios and torque curve. the subsequent optimal kit ratio divided via the present kit ratio components you with an optimal time to shift. * verify the vehicle's handbook for advise policies. The optimal RPM point transformations based at this style of vehicle youcontinual.

It was really scary learning how to get up a hill starting miday from a stop, without backing into anything that was close behind. That's the toughest part. My daughter was with me when I was learning and 15 years later she still teases me about my driving.
But yeah it's overall way more fun!

Yeah, I learned to drive on a manual. But, manuals suck in traffic and you can't really eat or talk on the phone while driving a manual. So, there are some downsides.
