I WOULD LIKE TO OBTAIN MY COURT RECORS OF MY CHILD SUPPORT ORDERS. I NEED TO KNOW THE GUIDLINES AND CONDITIONS. I ALSO NEED TO KNOW THE LAWS ON WHEN PAYMENTS STOP IN ILLINOIS.

Our clerk in my county gives all that paper work out free. My husband just went to the court house, went to the child support window and asked for a printout of ALL child support payments made since the order was issued. THey did. It went back 5 years. Payments in IL stop when the child is 18 AND out of high school. UNLESS the child is enrolled in college. Then it goes unitl the are out of college. I do believe you can have the child support redirected to the child (through a modification order) if they are in college though. I know my dad did it for my sister. ALthough, if it mentions something diff. in your court order than it stops whenever it is mentioned. If no mentioning than it goes until they are 18 out of high school with NO college. And 23 or whatever until they grad. college.

you need to request a copy of the order from the Court where it was issued. There will be a copy fee but it's public record.

as for when support ends, it will either be specified in the order or, if not, by statute In Illinois, child support usually ends when a child becomes "emancipated."

Illinois law defines emancipation as the child's 18th birthday. There are, however, other ways that a child may cross the magical threshold of emancipation -- thereby terminating all child support obligations.

Normally Child Support ends when a child reaches 18 or graduates from high school, whichever is later. However, a parent's obligation to pay child support may continue for a longer time if the child is mentally or physically disabled.

The judge decides when payment stops. Usually it is either the child's 18th birthday OR the date the child graduates from high school or obtains a GED. It is almost always the LATER of the two. But, a judge can order it differently. All you have to do to get a copy of the court order is to request it from the court Clerk, and pay the copying fee.
