Have you ever met a good teacher that you really admire, in your opinion, what were the qualities of a good teacher? And what makes you set this individual apart from the others?

How about the worst teacher? Have you ever met one? Why did this individual fail to set an example you would want to emulate as a teacher.

Tell me, please~

Thnx

A good/great teacher for me is one who challenges you to think outside the box, is fair and does not play favorites (unless it is me! LOL), has a good sense of humor, takes time to explain details, and listens to the students' opinions.

The worst teacher I had was in college. I was studying Human Services and this was a business economics class (required class). The first day he walked in and his first words were, "Women do not belong in the field of business. I do not give extra help. I give one A in the class." Well, after the first test, and I was so far below and F it was not funny and a guy who never showed up to class got an A, well, that was it for me! He did get fired after that semester!

Having teachers in the family, I've met many good ones. The best quality about them is their ability to make every child feel special. That's done more or less by accepting them for who they are and what their limitations are and helping them work with what they have. I liked teachers that encouraged use of creativity and those who made you think.

The worst teacher I know was the one I had in 5th grade. I got dinged on an answer by calling her the spawn of Satan but that's really what she was. She hated all the girls in her classes and most of the boys. She had a couple of students that could do no wrong in her eyes even if they were totally obnoxious in everyone else's. If anyone she didn't like dared to talk to these chosen few, she would publicly ridicule the disliked child and tell the liked child to stay away from the other because of some invented reason. That's only the half of it. She also couldn't teach and she would hand out assignments that you couldn't read because she used the back of something that bled through. Then, she wouldn't give you a clean copy that you could read. Heaven forbid if you even asked! She once gave a worksheet on colored paper to a color-blind student and he couldn't see anything on it. She gave him a detention because he said he had a blank paper and needed a new one. She was a real nut.

Well thats an all depends question. Most all my teachers were great. The very worst teacher, I haven't met yet. This is really true, cause I wanted to learn. A teaching style I hated was group homework in high school= me doing slackers work. This was a tough lesson, I could not engage a slacker to carry his load!

my worst teacher was my 8th grade sci teacher. she would tell us what was on the quiz, then put something totally different down. she would never slow down while we were taking notes. she would never give extra help. and this is coming from an A+ student! also, she has been teaching for 8 years and recently 2 weeks ago got her teaching liscense. she barely made it.
