It isn't! But after 9/11 the world views the middle eastern nations as barbarians, and the US as civil, There for we are supposed to know better.
It's a rather barbaric way of viewing things isn't?

WOW! You know, back when the public schools were at least pretending to teach students, they used to teach philosophy, logic, etc., and taught people to use reasoning. Are you a parent? Or at least know some one who is? Let's say some child tortures a cat or dog to death. Are you saying that it is alright? How about if that child breaks all the windows out of your Porsche? Smashes your TV set? What if a burglar breaks into your house, rapes your wife and daughter, tortures you son, steals everything that he might be able to sell, then torches your house and you and your family barely escape with your lives. You are saying that all of these things are alright? Get real.
I don't condone turture in any event; however, I certainly see the difference between a criminal or terrorist doing such things and an (otherwise) law-abiding person doing such things to bring the criminal/terrorist to justice and to prevent more of the same.
It appears that you are using "Arab" in the old sense, when ALL of the Muslim lands were known as "Arabia". It doesn't matter; I don't know of any one who hates either "Arabs" or "Muslims". But that doesn't mean we need to condone torture, brutality, rape, violence, theft, annililation of whole tribes, just because there are bleeding liberals out there.

People have to choose a side. If no one chose a side, this world would either be complete chaos, or the garden of Eden, because Eve would still be deciding what to do about that tree of knowledge ...Now, whether you choose a side blindly, or educate yourself on the subject is personal choice. I believe that the people who believe there is absolutely no difference whatsoever between the two situations either believe very strongly against one case, or do not know enough of to see that there are similarities. The means to an end don't have to be the same to compare the end.

My guess is you would have had to be there and video taped both different torture sessions. Then you could compare types of torture and the purpose for doing so. Torture to be mean and inflict pain/ torture to extract information... Actually, torture( extreme physical type) is a poor way to get information because when the pain gets bad, almost everyone will give up everything they never knew about everyone to get away from the pain.

So, I guess it's in the context the difference lies. You got videos of both?

CIA does not torture. They create situation leading to tortures. So, you are comparing apple to a banana.

There's not much difference unless you're the one being tortured.

If you had been with me in the 1980s in Central Bosnia, you would know.

If you had been with me in S. Vietnam and Cambodia you would know.

If you had seen the dead in the Mogadishu city center you would know.

Because of a handful of people who have compromised their soul you never will know.

And for that you should thank GOD!

What is the difference between a Palestinian strapping a bomb on and blowing up civilians to fight the terrorist state of Israel

And American planes dropping bombs on civilians to fight terrorism

I mean, other than the obvious....

1. The Palestinian is fighting to protect his home, his family from Israeli terrorists...the American is fighting for corporate profits
(even if he/she doesn't know it)

2. The Americans kill hundreds of thousands more innocent civilians than the Palestinians
