Yes I finally broke down and bought one a couple of weeks ago, and I'll tell you why.
1. If you have a PS2 the games are exactly the same except it's in the palm of your hands, that's right GTA and all of the others are now in the palm of your hands, the games actually load faster than on the PS2.
2. UMD movies, you can watch these on the plane, train, or wherever.
3. Downloads, that's right. You can download torrent files from hundreds of thousands and place it right on the PSP. Games, movies, music, just as long as you have a large memory card. I say again you can store hundreds of games or movies on your PC, and when you are ready transfer them to a memory card.
4. MP3 player, my wife has that bulky iPod, granted it has 30 G hardrive, but 1G is more than enough for songs and you can interchange memory cards or buy a 4G memory card. (This could hold about 6 UMD sized files on it.
The price dropped to 169, but what you want is the package that comes with 1G memory stick, and 2 UMD discs. It's a better buy.
Then what you will want to get is a card reader, one that can read the memory stick Duo, or u can just plug the PSP to your computer, but you will still need to get a USB plug to connect it...
But anyway I could go on and on. But, my wife is jealous of this thing, and I don't even bother with the PS2 cuz I got it in the palm of my hand with crystal clear graphics.

I got my PSP when it first came out for 200 bucks(I think it's 169 now). I still use it for everything, video games, internet, movies, music, and photos. I personally think it is awsome. I also have a Nintendo DS. The DS is ment for younger kids, because of the child friendly games, touch screen, and it flips closed(which protects the screen). My younger sister dropped her DS on the sidewalk from maybe 2-3 feet and it barely had a mark on it. PSP is fragile, and a 5 to 10 year old would break one. PSP is a lot more adicting than DS. I would have paid 250 for the PSP.

It depends on what you wanna do though and have the cash to maintain it properly.
- If you only want to play PSP games and that's it, is not worth it at the moment since everything out there is a port. Playing ps1 games, that you dl using your ps3, require at least 500 mb of memory. It is a good rom emulator though if you like playing old school games.
- If you are gonna use it as your media device, you have to buy a decent memory stick. And is a good purchase because you can watch movies, view pictures, and listen to music.
Just a reminder that many companies are gonna be dropping UMD support since it is not selling.
