You could realize that cos(x) = ∑(n)[0,∞] (-1)^n * x^(2n) / (2n)!

And then it all makes sense from there.

Its simple SOH-CAH-TOA..

The Indian Right Triangle Warrior.

SOH : sin theta = opposite / hypotenuse
CAH : cos theta = adjacent / hypotenuse
TOA : tan theta = opposite / adjacent

It is the possibilty to compute all the lengths and all the angles of a right triangle given one (1) angle and two (2) sides.

My teacher taught me a way to remember the right way to do cosine, sine and tangent:
SOA-CAH-TOA
SOA is sine (because of the S)- the O is for opposite and the A is for adjacent, so it is opposite/adjacent.
CAH is consine (because of the cosine)- the A is for adjacent and the H is for hypotenuse, so it is adjacent over hypotenuse.
TOA is tangent (because of the T)- the O is for opposite and the A is for adjacent, so it is opposite over adjacent.
I hope this answers what you were asking! Good luck!

my teacher tought me SOH-CAH-TOA

so o for opposite, a for adjacent, and h for hypotenuse, then s for sin, c for cos, and t for tan

she told us a phrase to help us remember.

Some Old Hag Caught A Hippie Tripping On Acid.

pretty easy to remember
good luck
