A cat got it out or something but it escaped. I hadn't notice until my dad told me when I got home from school. We found out that both of my turtles were not in the tank outside. We ran all over the backyard to find them. We found one. We searched for the second one but gave up after 20 mins of searching. We put the one that we found on the grass hoping that it diddn't die. We were about to throw it away since it diddnt move and there were lots of ants on it. I started to squirt water in it's shell. It's head popped out! I was wondering why its feat and arms diddn't come out. My dad and I thought it was just because the turtle was just looking around. When we put it back in the tank, it started floating and its legs and arms diddn't come out. I started to look inside it's shell to see where did the arms and legs go but they were probably bitten by something! I told my dad and he said it would heal. I don't think so though.

I'm very sorry to tell you this, but I looked at the pics and the limbs are definitely gone, at least the two that were there before. You have a red eared slider, the most common of all aquatic pet turtles. And just like the majority of fresh water turtles, red ears need their limbs to help digest their food and regulate body temperature by basking in the sun on a rock, log or whatever (out of the water). Water turtles are (solar powered). You will see them regulary turning their limbs over as they bask, this is the sign of a healthy water turtle. Most people who keep water turtles as pets don't know this, and keep them indoors out of the sun. The turtles are destined to a premature death. If you really love your red ear, you have two choices; have 'her' put to sleep (male red ears have long claws) or get her to a vet for treatment and nurse her. You will have to put food direcly in front of her mouth while she is in the water if she can't swim. She will not hand feed if you are holding her. Make sure she gets two to four hours of direct sunlight everyday. She may be able to pick up enough sun from partial limbs. If you put her outside for basking, secure chicken wire over the water tank to keep predators out. Keep her water tank as clean as possible. If you keep her, I highly advise getting another red ear of the same size, this will create dynamics in the tank and will help keep her from being depressed (yes, turtles do get depressed). I wish the best for her. Oh, and one more very important thing, keep the water in the tank shallow enough for her to get her head up for ear (if she sinks, she will drown). Test her out in deep water and see if she floats. (water) turtles that float have too much air in trapped in the carapace (upper shell). If she floats, chances are she won't live long watever you do.

Get a phonebook and start calling, the good ones will answer you on the phone. But I think you need to take it in anyway! I hope everything will be ok :)

I would ask the vet. Maybe just make a phonecall first and find out. I am pretty sure it would need medical treatment to stop infection though.

I'm not normally one to say this, but in this case, I would suggest the best thing would be humane euthanization by a vet.
That is so sad.

that's gross. I would take it to a vet to have it put to sleep. It won't be able to swim without arms and legs.
