The major thing is the oil change. After that, give the engine a visual inspection. Normally, that will be the first indication of trouble. A belt may appear worn, or you may hear a sound from you're water pump, etc. Also check for cleanliness of the underhood area.. A clean engine will run cooler, because the dirt and oil doesn't act like an insulator and hold the heat. good luck.
