What I do is I get in a comfortable position and then I start a dream then I go to sleep so fast. Another thing I do is I say to myself," If I had a restaurant,store,etc. What would it be called? What would it look like? etc." Then I get whatever I want to dream or think about then I go to sleep. You should try it. It really helps a lot. I am just in my teens but it works.

read till u can barely keep your eyes open, i have the same problem w/ not bing able to fall asleep at the time i want to and i toss and turn for hours when i try to fall asleep. Read alot.

I take my Dr prescribed sleeping medication and i still can't fall asleep, so i have some sleeping issues that i need to go over with my Dr. Thank you for reminding me!

i had to be in some physical therepy after a car accident a couple years ago and one of the exercises i was taught there is great for falling asleep. my physical therepist called it "checking in" and it works like this:
its all about telling yourself where you are in space and what your body feels. for example, when lying in bed on your back you would say, "i feel my back pressing into the matress. . . my elbows. . . my calves. . .my butt. . . etc, etc.
you don't have to say it out loud but i think it helps. e mail me if this wasn't specific enough.

It may sound ridiculous, but I tried it once. I breathed very slowly, so that I got terribly tired very quickly and ended up falling asleep. It was like trying to stop breathing, don't try it, it's very stupid.

I dont know for other people but for me I refuse to let my mind roam after I go to bed . also have the room as dark as possible . I'll be asleep in less that five minutes. let us know how you do .

my method is simple. GO work out or force yourself to read a book you don't like. For me, it would be a history book.
