Somewhere not far from you is a place called a library chock full of history books and other references about the cold war.

The movie "Thirteen Days" is about the Cuban Missle Crisis. On the "infinifilm" version of the DVD has lots of features about the actual events and the cold war in general.

The news magazines of the period ("Time", "Newsweek", etc) will also have loads of articles to examine. Also look at the major newspapers.

Try some biographies on Stalin, Eisenhower, and the other leaders from both sides of the Iron Curtain.

I would check out the library. That's the best source. I take it you are not in college right? Hmm...well, you can also type cold war into a search engine but be selective and make sure that you click on links that end in edu. Those are reputable sites sponsored by universities.

me...I lived thru much of it and studied a lot of political/military history in college...what do you want to know. Summary: USSR erects the iron curtain in eastern berlin (followed by the rest of eastern europe) in the 50's, places massive armoured divisions along the borders threatening invasion of europe, kruschev pounds shoe at UN saying they will bury us. Russia/china support N. Korea invasion of south. US builds up military to counter threat thru 60's and 70's, russia supports N. Vietnam in battle with south vietnam. After vietnam US military slowly goes down hill until Reagan in 1980, the US builds the 600 ship navy and builds up other weapons systems...USSR collapses under the econo0mic starin of trying to keep up with us, iron curtain comes down and eastern european states get out from under the ussr control.
