My Hubby's family raised several generations in New York, and still have aunts and uncles there, and there has never been any indication that they are treated any differently than any other state. There are many services offered, and a lot of support groups.

I would say the same way they get treated anywhere in the U.S.A. .
It is not the location but who the people you encounter.

nyc or the state ? In the state from what I have seen they are treated very good
