The Brewers have slumped a little lately, but they have certainly been one of the surprise teams.
Right now, though, I'd say the Diamondbacks have been the biggest surprise. I figured them to be improved, but I thought they were still another year or so away. It's still early, but I've been impressed with what they've done thus far.
In the AL, the only real surprise for me is the lead that the Red Sox have built up.

I would have to say the play of the Brewers and Cubs. The Brewers on the positive side and the Cubs on the negative side. As far as players are concerned I would have to say Prince Fielder has come around a lot sooner than most people believed he would. I know some would say the poor play of the Yankees but I think you have to give consideration to the injuries they have had and they should come around.

I would say the Brewers, except they showed flashes of brilliance last year, and their core started to play better at the end of the year. For me the biggest surprise of the year would be the Cubs starting pitching.
Starting with Rich Hill, he has finally made the leap from looking to be a AAAA pitcher to being a major league ace. He is averaging 8 k's/9 and has a 1.03 whip. Next would be their free agent signings in Marquis and Lilly. A lot of people (including myself) thought it would backfire on them starting from year 1. Not at all. Lilly has a 1.08 whip and Marquis' is jsut 1.16. Combined they have posted 15 quality starts in just 24 starts total. And maybe the biggest surprise in the rotation has been the submergance of Zambrano. While he has an era of 5.38 and is almost averaging almost a walk every two innings.
It is quite ironic that everyone said their offense would carry them, while their pitching has been the piece keeping them in the race.

Cowboys - i'm no longer shocked in any respect. Their head coach is an entire fool and their offensive coordinator over complicates issues way too plenty. in the event that they could basically line up and play soccer love it is meant to be performed they could be high quality. each and all of the unfold formations and action are issues you do to catch up on loss of skills, no longer in spite of the skills you have. Bucs - no longer so remarkable. they only beat the Browns and Panthers. an excellent type of persons will try this for the period of the previous the tip of the season. Chiefs - particular, it became into remarkable the took down the Chargers, yet that became into interior the pouring rain. the 2d win became into over the Browns. no longer infrequently a marvel. do no longer guess the farm on them. Vikings - Favre magnificent? What scale are you measuring that on? on the very suited he's universal this 365 days. Steelers have gained 2 video games that no one has envisioned them too, so as that does say some thing. they have their protection to thank for it via stepping as much as the annoying circumstances. Texans - they have regarded large. they have examined they could dangle in there and bring offensively with any team interior the league. I anticipate them to blow out the Cowboys this weekend. the main extremely for my section is the Lions have self belief it or no longer. they could have overwhelmed the Bears different than for one debatable call, and got here interior of three factors of thrashing the Eagles. No, they gained't make the playoffs, yet they are manning up and enjoying complicated middle against very stable communities.
