I have only met my Dad once in my life about a year ago. Do I just send him a card for fathers day or do i also get a gift?

A card is enough. If you've only met the man once, and that was about a year ago, it seem that neither of you are exactly pining for a closer relationship. A card at different holidays a couple or three times a year will keep the door open, if either of you ever decides to attempt to get to know the other.

Hi there,
That is strictly up to you. However, I think a card is plenty. The man would feel honored by the fact you remembered him, and consider him a father.

I would just send a card with various photos enclosed of you at different ages in your life, so that he can see the physical progression of you at special times in your life, I think that would be very touching.

I was thinking a card also, but what about you guy's going out to eat and getting to know each other better? (...THAT'S IF YOU LIVE CLOSE TO ONE ANOTHER)
I know it may be awkward and some people aren't good with expressing their feelings. If you're busy doing an activity like going to a restaraunt, bowling or shooting pool you may begin to open up and start a relationship.

Do what you want to do. Nothing more and nothing less. You are not obligated to give him anything, so the choice of how you celebrate Father's Day is entirely up to you.

A card is MORE than enough. Why bother wasting money on someone who isn't even in your life ?? !!!!
