I believe they should. Culpepper could be the teacher for their No.1 pick Russell and that way he can learn how to become a better QB. That way Russell can be developed slowly and become the starter in a couple of years while Culpepper runs the team for now.

What do you think about it?

I wouldn't do it. Josh McCown is not a bad QB. He's one of those guys who is too good to be a backup QB but not good enough to be a starter. He comes at a cheap price and can actually lead the team to a few victories. We all know that it's Jamarcus job, Josh McCown is not a bad choice for stopgap QB for 6-8 weeks until Mr. Russell is ready to take over. Throwing russell in at week one will not make this team playoff bound, Culpeper woudln't do that either. McCown is the right choice, and then when the team is like 3-5, throw him in and then perhaps the Raiders go 6-10, get a decent pick and build for 2008.

Could be a good fit, but I think the Jaguars might try to pick him up first. Jacksonville has three QBs none of which have really done anything. I am expecting Byron to have a great year, but nothing motivates NFL players like competition. At least not any who stay for any lenght of time. Besides that, Mike Tice and Culpepper are pretty close from the Minnesota days and Daunte is from Ocala Florida, which is only 60 miles south of Jax.

I agree that Daunte Culpepper should become a teacher for the No.1 pick Russell he could learn alot from him. Culpepper should run the team and they could actually win games.

Aquiring Culpepper couldn't do ANY more harm in Oakland than they already do to themselves...Why not pick up an experienced QB who could give Russell a little tips and show him the way. But as said before, they couldn't get any worse with him on the team.

NO! what would be the point? Moss made Culpepper look good in MIN, but now he's broken down... what could Culpepper teach Russell that McCown can't? McCown has experience and intelligence, but not the real talent needed, Culpepper HAD talent, but who knows what he'll be now...

Joe, that's a good point, except he would be a great mentor for Russell. It would mean that the Raiders have a decent QB just for the season. No, he wouldn't win much but he would allow Russell another year to develop after an experienced QB who was once really good.

No. Culpepper has the arm however he is no longer mobile and that was a big part of his game. Because of his lack of durability he would not be able to provide the Raiders with what they need.

No one in their right mind, should try Culpepper. the man is done, period and, has been for more than two years still, I guess it would be the RAIDER thing to do.

Why? Why would anyone want Daunte Culpepper? He had one good year and since then he's gone downhill. If I took him it would be as a backup.

Why not the Raider need a washed up former Viking on the roster, the can play two in Oakland before moving to New England as Tom Brady's back up for a few years. At least that way he'll get a ring.
