So that swear words and possible messages to the outside world aren't broadcast. Also, if they're discussing, say, politics, it is Channel 4 broadcasting, so they could be sued if the housemates say something slanderous or defamatory about a politician. Some people are just so over-sensitive though, its just taken to extreme!

Some Legal matter I think, they have to cut the sound out every 2-3mins , Im not sure it has anything to do with what there talken about but it might be ,

In case a housemate says anything that could lead to legal action against C4.

Bad language during the day is a big factor too.

Annoying isn't it? They seem to block out 30 seconds for one swear word!!!!

To `protect` themselves!! The housemates may be talking about someone else, in more than general terms, and the program makers don`t want to risk getting involved in any subsequent legal actions, that may arise , as a result of it.

If house mates are talking about commercial stuff like brands or movies or music or tv they block the sound cause those brands can sue as bb doesn't have permission. If they swear, you hear a beep

i dont know the real answer but if there so bothered about being sue'd for saying 'coke' or 'mcdonalds' then why did they broadcast a racist coment? there just askin for trouble in my opinion! after the greef they got from the celebraty big bro, with shilpa and jade you would think they would have delt with the situation descretly!

legal reasons depends on what they are talkin about i think its about a 10 min delay in the live broadcast
