Lost in the space behind the cushions of the couch. Sit down and put your hand back there and you'll find it. When you're not sitting down, you can't see it.
Or did you carry it out to answer the phone and laid it down there?

Did you look between the cushions? Got kids in the house, if so it could be anywhere from the toy box to the toilet.
