I don't think so. I think the purpose of life is to learn and to grow mentally and spiritually. Being entertained all the time wouldn't leave any time for reflection and setting goals for yourself. I think we all need to take the time to look at our lives, regroup and go forward. I think children definitely think that life is about being entertained but that's all they need to know when they're young.

The ultimate purpose of life is listed in the Bible. In Ecclesiastes 12:13, it says, 'Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.' As humans, our entire purpose in life on earth is to know God. This relationship, or lack thereof, will affect our whole eternity. A relationship with God is the most real relationship we will ever experience. It is so crucial to put our worldly desires to the back burner and focus on God.

I agree with In The Light's answer. Our purpose is to know God and to enjoy Him forever.

Entertainment is a distraction and a form of "busy-ness". It is a way of avoiding thoughts about purpose or death or any other of life's hard questions. It was Pascal who suggested that most of humanity's problems are the result of our inability to sit quietly in one's room. We find it most difficult to just sit and think about the important things.

Busy-ness can be an addiction too, an escape from awareness of reality, to numb our anxiety.

In order to "understand what the will of God is", UN-busy-ness is required.

In NA it seems to be.

In other cultures some people like to......

Eat
Have peace
Family
Not have AIDs
Not be slaughtered

Entertainment kind of fades away when there are a 100 guys banging on your door with machetes in their hands.
