You have to to investigative work on this one. Check the cell phone bill for phone calls that are a lot of minutes, or repeated numbers or very early in the day or late at night.
Also, check the computer emails. Check the phone for
voicemails, check the bank statement. Something is not right here. Do this for a while, don't let on that you think that there is something wrong. Practice patience. Sooner or later if there is a fish it will catch the bait. Then, after about 3 weeks you should know something either there is something going on or there isn't. It there isn't then shame on you, but at least you'll have peace of mind. If there is and then sit down and
have a talk with her. Confront her with the evidence. Since,
you are worried about this behavior and it seems kind of odd to you and you've noticed this change then there probably is something going on. But now you have to gather up the facts since you will not get a straight answer from her. At least not
till you find evidence that you can show to her face. All in all
I hope that you are wrong because just by writing here and showing this much concern over her behavior shows that you love her very much and are afraid of losing her.

It's sounds like she could be messing around. I've experienced similar behavior from my ex before I found out she was cheating. You need information. Here's how you get it. Go to radio shack and buy a telephone recording device. They are very cheap and simple to use. Just hook it up to a tape recorder and when the phone is picked up it starts recording. (It's illegal in some states so make sure it is well hidden). I guarantee you that if she is cheating you will find out very quickly. I learned first hand that women like to share their experiences in this regard with their girlfriends. Good luck.

This sounds normal to me... if she was a vivacious and bubbley person before the mood swings, then it could be something medically wrong. PMS can be one of the problems, very common. Or she just lost interest in trying to keep the marriage going. You need to talk this out with her and possibly seeking professional advice. Good Luck!

Sounds to me like she may be Bi-Polar. I'm not an expert but have been around several people who were and until they got diagnosed and on medication they had very erratic behavior much like you are describing. You need to talk to her in a positive way and try and help her through whatever she's going through. I wish you guys luck!

Sometimes we women feel kissy and other times we dont.Maybe you are smothering her.She feels overwhelmed or even bored.Whether she wears makeup or not doesnt matter.Sometimes we want to wear it other times we are too tired to mess with it.I think you are analyzing her to the point that your making her angry. She can feel you watching her every move.Just back off and chill out and see if it continues. Remember hormones may play a role in all this.

Talking about mood swings huh?! If you really want to know what is really going on out there, try putting yourself in her shoes..as we (outsiders) do not exactly know what is happening between you both. the most important thing is ask yourself if you had/have been cheating on her, if your answer is not, nothing you should worry about. if yes, cause and effect is in play. cheers

She may suffer depression. When I am in one of my "lows", I don't care about anything, not my appearance, not my husband, certainly not interested in physical contact of any kind.
You say you see a pattern of make-up = distance, what about the frequency of this pattern? Does she act this way once or twice a week, or every wednesday, or once a month?

Sounds like either a hormone problem , PMS, or a personality disorder. Doesn't sound like she is cheating. Take her to the doctor and explain the symptoms. If she won't go you go talk to the doctor about her.

Sounds like depression. Try to get her to open up more and see how her behavior has changed. She may need to see a therapist to get her out of this funk.
