I would HIGHLY appreciate if you could help me out!

Find the distance between the points (5,-5) and (-3,4)
possibilities:
[A] square root of 5
[B]145
[C]negative square root of five
[D]square root of 145

Please help!

Plot the points on a graph. Notice that in going from (-3, 4) to (5,-5) you are going down nine units and 8 units to the right.
That's √(9^2 + 8^2) = √145

You have to use the a^2 + b^2 = c^2 formula.
If you graph the points you can make a right triangle.
The base of the triangle would be 8 (5 + 3)
The height of the triangle would be 9 (5 + 4)
8^2 + 9^2 = c^2
64 + 81 = c^2
145 = c^2
D is your answer
