Why in the world would you want a cheap high school abroad program. That makes no sense at all. What would you do in a cheap high school abroad program? Are there Motel 6 all over the world?

I would think if you were smart enough to consider this as something to do, you would be smart enough to understand that a cheap program would be a waste of time and money. That's just silly.

I completely disagree with the other answers. The Rotary Youth Exchange Program is the one for you!!! I think the only things you will end up paying for is your plane ticket and maybe health insurance. What you need to do, is contact your local rotary club. Ask them to give you an application packet (which is bit thick, but suck it up and complete it) and will arrange for you to have an interview. You will most likely go on then to another location in your state to be interviewed by some a larger district. The only downfall is that while you are able to rate your preferences on countries (1-30 countries) you are not guaranteed your first choice (I got my third choice when I went). Later you will receive information about what country you got, what city, and the family you will be staying with. You should have between 2-4 host families a year. Most of the time it is a family that has also sent a son or daughter abroad. Fortunately for us in the U.S., it is not a requirement to accept a student in exchange (no paying for food, housing, school of another person) which saves your family tons. So basically, you will be gived food, housing, and school for free for an entire year. I went to Mexico this last year with rotary and loved it. The rotary also hosts several trips for the "inbound" exchange students, which offer discounts if financial aid is needed. Hope this helps, and please look into this, its a great opportunity!!!
