I need to write the equation x(x - 6) + 8 = 0 in quadratic form and then solve it by factoring, I think the correct answer is 4 and 2ut I am not sure can you help me?

x^2 -6x +8 = 0 (quadratic form)

now factoring:

(x - 2 ) (x - 4) = 0

This equation is true only if each one of the factors is zero.
if x-2 =0, then x=2

you first have to distribute the x... you get x^2 -6x + 8 = 0

Then multiply a by c to get 8... remember ( a^2 + bx + c )
then find out what multiplies to get 8 and adds to -6x.

that is -4, and -2.

now group the equation

(x^2 - 4x) + (-2x + 8 ) = 0

now reverse distribute

x(x - 4) + -2(x - 4) = 0

now group the x and -2 and keep one of the (x - 4) 's

to get the equation

(x -2) (x - 4) = 0

now solve there two equations separately to find both x intercepts.

(x - 2) = 0
and
( x - 4) = 0

You get x = 2
and x = 4

thats 2 and 4.
