some 23000 people apply, only ~2050 applicants are accepted.
Money is not a big issue since Harvard is almost lavish w/ fin. aid. - families making under $60,000 pay nothing.
Very smart people do get accepted but they are by no means the only ones there. Harvard looks for kids that have attained a high level of achievement in any activity of theirs. It looks for passion. Generally, students must possess a high level of academic attainment as well.
But basically, you have to have a great transcript, great activities, and a great essay and that will get you strong consideration. With thousands of applicants having similar profiles, luck and randomness also play a chance.

um, I guess if no one went to Harvard then Harvard would kind of disappear, wouldnt it? The last I checked, Harvard was still there and all the dorms were full of students. Yale's dorms are full, too. So I guess both Yale and Harvard are doing OK. I kind of wonder about how you are doing, though. Do you feel OK?

I want to go to Harvard. You need great achievements to get in there though.
