On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do braces hurt the day after you get them on?

I got invisalign braces and they are not too bad...I wear one set for 2 weeks and they gradually move the teeth, then switch to a new set for 2 more weeks. The first few days of the new sets are always the worst. They are hard to take off and make my mouth sore. I figure they are probably still more comfortable than the regular ones and since I do pageants and modeling, they would be better for me. Good luck!! :0)

No matter what any one says Braces do not hurt at all!!! Your mouth is only sore for like 2 days because while there putting the braces on they stretch your mouth about 2 inches with this mouth thinging! It's not scary or anything just this plastic thing but please follow there rules about the things you eat because if you don't floow the rules and your brake your bracket's it'll only make it longer!! And I'm going to be honest with you on a scale from one to ten braces is a 2 but when you get them tightened it hurts so bad!!!!! You might even cry! I'm not trying to scare you I'm sorry if I am but when you get them tightened it feels like somebody is grabbing on your teeth and pulling them out the roots!!!! That's how bad and terrible it is!!!!!!!!!!!! And that's like an eight on a scale from one through ten when you get them tightened!!!! Oh yeah and there is this thing called spacers when they put rubber bands in-be-tween you teeth and it hurts really bad!!!!

It's okay though it is really worthed it!!!! Please still get the braces and don't be scared now it's okay!!! You'll be alright and everything will be okay! You don't have to worry about anything!!

It really doesn't hurt that badly!
It aches a little, and your mouth gets cut up pretty bad!
Wax will be your best friend!
After you get them off your mouth peels and its all gross.
But, anyways it really isn't too bad, you shouldn't worry.
I'd rate it a 5 or 6!
The first day is the worst.
My friends with braces have lost like 20 lbs -they had theres' for two years- because the first couple mothes they hated eating!
After the end they didn't want to give their braces up because they were so used to them!
When they get tightened it isn't as bad as people say.
A lot of people complain about it but it isn't bad at all.
When you get a retainer be sure to wear it every day, if you skip just one day it hurts like a 7!

Never wear white, yellow, light pink, or orange!
They make even the whitest teeth look yellow.

I'm so sorry to say this, but probably an 8. It stops after a day or two, so just pop some advil! What sucks though is it is very hard to eat, i was sitting there crying trying to eat tuna helper! So go get a frosty or a milkshake, the cold will help too!

It probably depends on your braces though, like the design and how tight they are, so don't freak yourself out, a beautiful smile is worth the pain!

I would say about a 5. It really didn't hurt me a whole lot. After you get them on, your mouth feels weird since you have a whole bunch of stuff in them, but you get used to it quickly. If you are worried it will hurt, take a Tylenol before you go. Don't worry, braces aren't the horror story that everyone always claims it is. I have had mine for over a year, and they really don't bother me. Good luck!

It's like having a bad headache. Take some Advil or something...it helps a lot.
Since it's a new pain to you, you may think it's like a 10...but it will stop in a few days...until they tighten them again...but after awhile you get used to it.
I had braces twice and they were more annoying than anything, but well worth it!

I'd say a 7. They make your gums sore because they are moving the teeth, but if you take a couple advil or tyelonal or something, it doesn't hurt as bad. And it's a small price to pay for a beautiful smile.

Plus, there's an advantage to the occasional pain... you can talk to your parent(s) and have them put you on the oatmeal/soup/ice cream/popsicles diet... you only eat mushy foods. :)

My braces hurt so much less than the spacers they had to use to separate my teeth that I don't quite remember!! I remember feeling a slight pain in my mouth with each "tightening", but no severe pain after the spacers........my teeth were so close together, narrowly spaced that the spacers were the worst! Spacers...15 and braces 3-4!!
