Why does my 5-6 yr old pleco ( 6-8" long) have holes in the fin on his back and his tail is all ragged looking, there is another very small pleco in the tank and a albino catfish that is 14" long but have never seen them "attack" each other. Is this some kind of fungus or disease? Thanks in advance.

You are describing fin rot to perfection. I would suggest moving your pleco to another tank if at all possible to treat for the disease. Maracyn 2 or Maracyn TC (or any other brand of Tetracycline) are both good treatments for fin rot. Just treat as directed on the package.

Awww. Sounds like a fungus. Maybe drop some meds into the tank. Ask at a specialty fish pet store. (Not Petco).

maybe he's just getting old? i dont mean he's about to die. but i mean 6 years old is pretty old for a fish. and like people, maybe he's just wearing out...he's probably fine, but why not take him into a pet store, and ask an associate in the fish dept? (saves on vet bills too ;)
