When I named my daughter I gave her her father's surname. I regret that now. I don't like being called Mrs.#$$!$%. If you ask her what her name is she says that it is my last name.

I guess people are thinking I should change my name because she has had hers since birth. Well, I have had mine since birth. It's bad enough he gets unsupervised visitation when he is on SSDI for mental defect and doesn't have to pay child support.

I do not know where you live. In my state (NJ) it costs approx. $600.00 to change last name. If he is legal father and has legal rights to the child, he must be notified. All state laws are different.

Do you know how many people have a different name than their children because of divorce? Tons of them, so get used to it. I did.

why don't u just use her last name instead of changing hers. that was the name she was born with. i am divorced and would never even think of changing my kids last name, so unfortunately, I still use my ex's even though i wish he would rot in hell!!!!

Change of name is a special proceedings in court and if you have money you can do so because it is expensive due to publication requirements in newspapers.

Go through a court. ~
Check it with the municipal's office clerk.
