i have found that on newer mowers, there are a number of safety switches, under the seat, on the pto, (blade engage), brake system, some of them could be bad or the wires not connected. or it may be a problem in the ignition switch itself, a broken wire between the switch or maybe even just a dirty/coroded connection somewhere. thats about all i can think of from my experiences. hope this helps you.

I agree it is probably a safety switch. Sometimes the same one that won't let it start also won't let the battery charge either. You still may have a bad battery, but I think you will find a switch is the first problem. Good luck!!

Try cleaning the battery terminals and connection at the start switch or solenoid.

get a 1 amp trickle charger and put a slow charge on the battery always run the mower at full throttle in order to keep the battery charged as it will not charge at a idle

It does sound like a bad battery. Or the solenoid.

Sounds very much like a bad battery. The places that sell them will frequently check them for free such as Wal-Marts that have an automotive shop.
