When do pregnant women start lactating?

you may experience leaking of colostrum while pregnant, which is very rich in nutrients for the baby and is a thicker yellowish substance. i did for about 4 months before my son was born, but very minimal. once they're born and are stimulating the breast you will produce more colostrum for another 2-4 days and then you will begin producing the actual milk

It's different for every pregnancy and every woman. For instance I know tons of women don't lactate until the third trimester but I start lactating within weeks of finding out I'm pregnant. I start pretty early in my pregnancies but I know there are other women that do as well. It really just depends on the person and the pregnancy there isn't a way to determine exactly when it will happen.

You will not actually lactate until the baby is born. You will produce very slight amounts of colostrum which is what comes out before your milk comes in. It is said to be the baby's first shot in a sense because it helps build the immune system. When you are pregnant you may notice a small amount from time to time leaking from your breasts but your milk will not actually come in until about a day or two after the baby comes.

Do you mean leaking during pregnancy? It's common from about 20 weeks, some may be earlier, but some don't leak anything until they give birth.
