All addictive substances like drugs, cigarettes, alchohol...etc...should they be legal, and people have the right to take them if they want? or should a higher authority make the decision of making it illegal?

I think it rather depends on the individual substance. You can't really make everything that's addictive illegal - what about prescription painkillers, or even chocolate (or sex), which can become addictive depending on a predisposition? Neither can you make them all legal, as...well...it's rather obvious why (selling ecstasy and crack in corner stores?).
Probably the current system of looking at each substance on its individual merits is the best. It would be good if we could stop people from becoming addictive.

Anything can be addictive but substances that are addictive are illegal for the most part.

Cigarettes, alcohol, caffeine, hormones are drugs. You said ...like drugs, cigarettes, alcohol...

All illegal drugs should be legal. The government and citizens themselves need to be educated by unbiased, objective information so no one is to blame when someone becomes addicted. If an adult gives a drug to a child under 18, they should be severely punished. Why do we punish people who want to abuse drugs irresponsibly? I say give them more drugs so they can die.

I did many drugs and I held a full time job and was responsible. I don't drink alcohol because it kills the liver.

Im off to jail too.
What about prescription drugs, over the counter pain killers etc. They are addictive, some highly so. But if we make them illegal, how will we treat people.

Drugs should be prohibited because these are fatal to the health. Cigarettes and alcohol must only be regulated. It is up to the Legislature to pass laws for the total prohibition of the said evil items.

Yes, all agents we have available should be made available and be legalized. The government should have no right to tell us what we can or can't put into our bodies. If someone chooses to take an OD and they die - whose going to miss them????
