lemme see, a fight in front of the courthouse...#1 stupid!... #2 witnesses...#3 assault...#4 easy witnesses...#5 sheriffs, cops, etc....#6 hope the other guy wasn't a minority with so many witnesses!...#7 Hate crime on Federal property.

It was probably assault and battery, gave the the other side a big box, tied in a bright red BOW!

OK, first of all it was a bad idea to post this question, because if you haven't already done this then you'll get nabbed for premeditative assault. Second, you shouldn't be starting a fight anyway.

Contempt of court and assault are the offenses committed by fighting or assaulting someone in court.

Assault is any threatening move.
Battery is any unwanted touching.
ie. I swing a baseball bat at you and don't make contact, that is assault. I swing the bat and hit you, now it is battery.
