Set goals and challenge yourself. Make your workouts harder than the clubs or schools so you can say "yeah I did 5000 not just 3500" (bragging rights!). Swim open water, it is always a different scene and offers different challenges. Sign up for a big meet or race in the future so you have something worth working for. Reward yourself with something fun or delicious when you achieve your goals. Your main focus is not to fall into a routine or you'll get bored and your motivation will slip.

Good luck!

I think that a good way to stay motivated while swimming without a partner or a team, would be to swim in the ocean. It provides a constant challenge and is more fun that swimming in a large crowded pool.

Nothing gives you this killer body like swimming. All muscle up and strong. Picture yourself with these women or guys wanting a date with you and how you will look in these great clothes.
