Can you start taking this contraceptive pill once your period has finished, or does it have to be on the first day of your next cycle?

You prescribing physician had a duty to provide you with adequate instruction as to how to take the pill, and to ensure that you understood them. However there is also a clear data sheet with instructions in every pack.

Irrespective of what happens with regard to your bleeding, by the way this is now not a true period, but a pill withdrawal bleed, you take your pill for 21 days in a row, miss 7 days and then restart.

Yes you can. If you are sure that you aren't pregnant - ie haven't had sex since you got your last period then you can start right away and you will be protected after seven days of taking the active pills. You may get some breakthrough bleeding during the month, and your next "period" will be when the pills dictate and not your normal schedule.

You probably could but the reason that they usually want you to do it on the first day of the next cycle is so that the body has time to adjust to being on the medication. If you start when on your period it can mess up the cycle further and make it harder to adjust to being on the medication.

I would also recommend checking with your dr to see what they say.
