My motherboard manual says it support PC1600/2100 DIMMs. but when i pulled out my ram it is labeled as PC266.

Does it show up when you install it? If so it might be backwards compatible with the type you need so your mother board will take either the one it says it supports or the one that's in there.

266 is the speed meaning 266MHz..
