I am an American Indian, born in India, brought at America when I was four months old. It insulting to me and many others to hear that we are questioned on being Indian enough! Or losing our values. Indians in California at least, do even more to try to stay connected to tradition and important values. To tell you the truth what I feel is India overreacts to people from America. Whenever I go to India to a friendly visit my relations THEY TREAT ME DIFFERENTLY, while all the time I am indifferent and treat them like any other person. Life in America is as same in India...we are living and struggling to survive here as everywhere people do. I appreciate my values more and so do Indians in foreign countries. Don't judge Indians in America or any other country you may find they have struggled more in life and seen more misery and pain than you have. 15 yrs ago my parents came into this country with NOTHING, today I have everything from my sanskars, to traditions, my language, and my self moral respect. 15 yrs ago America had barely any Indians and no Indian resources for food. My parents never lost their goal and today I am here as Indian as I can ever be!

Nothing like that.
When you go to America for a vacation do you feel that your value has dropped????
If you say No, then it is the same. There is no need to feel inferior. Every human learns by making mistakes.
Be confident and learn from the people you live with and teach them what you know.
When any person comes from USA to india, we treat them like god and do all that we can do, so we expect atleast some percentage of that back, which does not happen because of their culture. They know up to what level they can help others and they just stop there.
So its our mentality that needs to change. Try to change your mentality and always keep in mind, even people living in america are humans like you, with the same capabilities that you have.

No. that all depends on u. My parents have lived here over thirty years and bore and raised two kids in America, and well...it saddens me; but their values are as traditional as ever! But then, I've met some Indians who come from India and "Americanize" pretty quickly. So it depends on the person, and their circumstances and things. I know ppl who were born and raised in India, but go against all their values and marry Americans. But then I know ppl who were born and raised in America who want to go back to India and get an arranged marriage for themselves. U never know what's gonna happen to u in a particular situation...so, as hard as it may be, it's not right to generalize. And what one might consider dropping of values, others might consider raising standards...so it's all a matter of perception and understanding of other cultures and how u blend in.

Dropping values? You mean they adapt to their environment because no to work they have to wear different clothing. Because working is hard and they cant rely family because they are still in india therefore they tend to miss some things.... ?
Values in the heart man, If people's value change when they move into a different country, they didn't have those values to begin with.

Not just for Indians...For most people who leave their homeland to seek whatever...Ones values have to drop to the level of the adopted new home.

It's always true ! whenever one become in-part of any one / place he is not easily accepted, however if he continues his next generation may gain values.
Though I haven't visited abroad, yet I understand this by experience from study & traditions.
