We're all familiar with the top stories of Hilton, Lohan, Gibson, and countless others. Are there unwritten exceptions for these 'notables' for DUI. I'm betting Paris Hilton's medical excuse tops any that we used to get out of gym.

I really am wondering what the actual law says, about how many convictions of DUI you can have within a specified period of time, in CA., before they actually revoke your license. If a license is revoked, it allows stiffer penalties if you are caught driving, whether stopped for DUI, or any other infraction. I don't understand why this wasn't brought up as part of, in the case of Hilton, unless there is no stipulation in the law, or unless someone was paid off. I already assume that a suitcase full of unmarked bills was delivered to Lee Baca, for his allowing her to leave. I don't understand why he hasn't been held accountable, and hope that possibly he's 'asked' to step down.

Money talks.

Law no longer matters if you have money. That is the sad reality that we live today. Look at how patheticly sad our system is when WE let out a convicted person from jail after only 3 days. I am talkin' about REVOLUTION. It is time that all the poor, middle class (those of it that still exist) and those that can no longer stand the injustices we see everyday. We must RISE UP and fight against that which is wrong. Think about all the other injustices that occur daily that are not televised. They do occur and will continue until we stand up for what is right and say this will no longer happen.

Power to ALL the people - not just the rich and famous.

No. The early release of her Paris-ness appears to be a cold-hearted risk management calculation. It happens to be correct from a policy perspective.

There is an infectious rash going through that facility. Applying some very basic public health science, there is a substantial liklihood that the cause of the rash is MRSA, methicillin-resistant staph aureus. If the Jennies from the Block and Lakishas from da 'hood get infected with MRSA, big deal, their cases can be paid off for under $50,000. If her Paris-ness gets a boo-boo in a house where MRSA is running rampant, you're looking at major liability exposure.

On balance, the whole episode has me convinced that community service (really smelly service, like emptying bedpans in an AIDS hostel), is far better punishment for the rich and disgusting.

Just know that in this country, the most publicity you are able to get will have an effect on the outcome of your case, but mainly if you have the money to shell out or a great lawyer, than you can pretty much get out of absolutely anything!

i.e. OJ Simpson
His fame bought him his freedom from the murders he committed.

It shouldn't, but money does seem to be a big factor. But I have I have a feeling that something very bad will happen, and it will either be Hilton or Lohan, something bad will happen where their moeny wont be able to go any of the talking.

Yes. The traffic, driving, and other motor laws in California are the least followed of anywhere I've ever been, except Argentina.

It all depends on how big of check your daddy can write! Her excuse probably had something to do with alcoholism, it is considered a disease, or multiple STD's!

If it was one of us we would die in the jail before we are let out.
