Can Mefanic acid cause side effects?

I take this for heavy periods and have cystitus...Could there be a connection..i don't know which problem is worse!

Yes, when I have taken this more than twice a day I get very painful urination making it seem like the bladder is inflamed. One of the known side effects of mefanic acid (Ponstel is the brand name) is painful urination.

There is no link between mefenamic acid consumption and UTI. Cystitis is very common in women, simply because of their anatomy.

id say no purely as i have taken the tablets and had no problems.
