You should do your own homework, but I can try to lead you in the right direction: First, comparing and contrasting usually means demonstrate in what ways they are the same and in what ways they are different. Ok, well, obvious things: Mrs. Mallard is a lot older than Eveline. Mrs. Mallard is married; Eveline isn't. Those are some basics. But the more significant stuff surrounds what is their life situation, what are the choices they have, and how do they respond to crises. I think if you read both stories, you will find that each is involved in a crisis. How do they respond to it? The same? Differently. This might give you some clues as to what kind of people they are. What is similar about their situations? Well, each one has a significant other, right? Mrs. Mallard has her husband; Eveline has her sailor boyfriend. That's a start. Try thinking along the lines of what choices does each character make, what situation are they in, what forces in their environment might be influencing their choices, and how do they handle these influences? Do they rebel? Do they go along with them? Get your curiosity going and you might even have fun.

That's cheating. You should consider actually reading the book.
