I'm considering moving there soon. What do they think of the Americans?

I doubt that the Russian people believe we are the war mongers that Vladimir Putin is trying to sell them. They see his backslide away from democracy, yet in spite of that he is still popular.
Putin is popular in Russia because of the new found wealth it has uncovered in natural resources. This has been a windfall for the Russian economy. Putin was in the right place at the right time because the Russian people see a correlation between a healthy economy and his presidency, even though the natural resources have always been there.

The ones I talk to, and yes I have talked to some lately online, like americans, they understand that politics is politics. The people they like in general though.
I always felt that the Russian people were good people also. During the cold war there was a bit of that red scare mentality but I always felt that the people at least there were just like the rest of us.

You will love it there. But I would say you are something else than American. Whatever your heritage is. They have wonderful family values and care so much for their children. Their culture ( music literature and the arts ) is far superior. It is a rich, growing country with many natural resources. In St Petersburg for example there is an Ikea store, Prada, and all the niceties. Best wishes.

Russians are warm and friendly to Americans.
They'll feed you too much..and you should take your shoes off in their house.

I think, because of George Bush, the Russians think
we are arrogant & dangerous.
Heaven help the Russians, they are one of the poorist
society's on the planet.
