Like MM said, 55 days is not unheard of. I think 60 is the max. Mollies actually have a longer gestation period than most live bearers and are more likely to be around 45 days but anything from 36 - 60 is possible for them. Most live bearers are less than a month.

The way to tell when she's ready to drop her fry is when she "boxes up". her sides and belly will flatten and will start to look squared off. When this happens, she's usually a couple of days away. When her anal vent starts to flair, she's about to drop or in the process of doing so.

I can think of 3 possibilities. 1 - She has already dropped her fry and consumed them. 2 - she hasn't dropped yet. 3 - she miscarried/aborted this batch. You know she's not sterile so that option can be ruled out.

Give her a few more days, if there's no sign of her squaring off, then put her back in the regular tank until next time.

it is not their time yet. whilst fish are transported to the puppy shop then you definately deliver them homestead, it messes up their cycle. I actual have a platy that had 6 toddlers approximately 3 weeks when I have been given her and then had 15 ten days after that. Then 26 days later she had 40 two. Now she has a batch each 27 days via fact then. pass parent. Yours would have their fry yet challenging to tell whilst and how many.

How do you know she is 55 days pregnant? 55 days seems waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to long. Almost record setting.

28-36 days is common, there is a possibility that she could be stressed, from being in your breeding trap. Most likely she all ready had her fry and ate them all, mollies do and will eat their fry! If you keep in your tank and not in a breeding trap she will be happier, just provide plenty of plants or breeding grass for the fry to hide in, fry have great instinct and will hide to survive!

55 days is not totally unheard of, but it sure is getting long. How do you know for sure that it's 55 days? Hard to tell when she has been bred before.
