Sure you can... just use your favorite carp recipe... but beware, they are filled with bones.

Yes. Goldfish is part of the Carp Family.
Here is a recipe - you can add whitefish and mullet if you chose.
cut open the goldfish ( and the mullet and the whitefish) and debone it.
grind the fish
add egg whites, onions, matzo meal, sugar, potato starch, salt and pepper.
Mix well
form it into balls or a loaf.
Refrigerate for a few hours.
Bring water To a boil
add carrots, onion, salt, pepper and sugar or splenda (you can leave the sugar salt and pepper from the items blended with the fish if you are putting it in the water). and bring it to a boil.
add the fish and bring it to a boil.
Simmer for an hour and a half
Either eat it hot or let it cool and refrigerate
eat the balls or slice the loaf
it is good with tarter sauce or white or red horseradish.
Note you may want to let the goldfish grow before you cook him.It would take a lot of 12 cent goldfish before they grow to make GEFILTE fish.

Goldfish are carp and carp are one of the largest groups of fish raised for human consumption. How do you think we originally got goldfish? It was because in Asia they raised carp in the rice paddy fields and soon saw the occasional colored fish. They took this fish and placed it in a private pond to view. We all know what happens when a couple of carp get together. Skip forward a dynasty or two depending on the Asian country and we have a large variety of oddly shaped and colored Carp that now have all sorts of new names. It sounds like you're just going to call yours food. If they are less than about 3" they go down extreamly well live with beer. Make sure you drink/eat all 3 of them this way together so they'll have their own little trauma/support group in there.

Although edible, goldfish are rarely eaten. A fad among North American college students for many years was swallowing goldfish as a stunt and as an initiation process for fraternities. The first recorded instance was in 1939. Don't eat your fish!

It was quite a game in the 20's to swallow goldfish while they were alive.

Would you eat your pet dog if he got plump!

We constantly threaten to eat ours. It's an ongoing joke. But we're just not that fond of the taste of carp. On the other hand, if you happen to like carp, bon appitite.

ummmmmmmmmm, isn't that like looking at your dog and saying "yum, buddy you look like your ready to stick on the BBQ"? I suggest not eating your goldfish.
