I'm not very good with scales. I had a doll house when I was younger but not sure of the scale but I would think Poppy Seeds if placed in a zip lock bag with a very tiny amount of yellow paint would work. Or bottled lemon zest is small in size and yellow in color.

I think the BEST would be cornmeal... it's the right color, and though large, it's fairly close in size.
I've used cornmeal on my N-scale railroad (1:87) at my ADM (Archer, Daniels, Midland) corn to cornstarch plant.
For the plants, there are N-scale corn stalks out there.
Good luck !!

Go to your local hobbie store and buy some yellow "Seed Beads". They should be small enough to simulate corn, and won't mold or become one solid chunk like cornmeal.

you can buy bags of corn, little tiny ears of corn at the hobby shops that make and sell stuff for that purpose, often going under the guise of model train shops.
