Besides the true event of 9/11; I would have to say that the complete episodes of ROOTS was really dramatic in that many people learned from this movie and desired to trace their heritage and family background. It brought a lot of families together.

The Apollo 11 moon landing.
My dad bought a TV when they had liftoff from Cape Kennedy, as we'd never owned one.
We all crowded in one room together to watch the moon landing. It was exciting.
We watched NASA coverage for a few weeks following that, but then the TV just gathered dust.

Besides 9/11 the one that sticks out in my memory is when President Reagan was shot. I was in 6th grade and the teacher brought the TV in the classroom and we watched the news coverage.
