Here are some books you'd probably enjoy:
Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett
Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkein
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
Wicked by Gregory Maguire
and anything by Roald Dahl, if you're willing to read children's books.

I think you would enjoy the Belgariad series by David Eddings. The first book in the series is "The Pawn of Prophesy." Lots of sorcerers and gods, and some nice humor as well.
If you want VERY dark fantasy, try the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever (an outcast, incurable leper is transported to a land where he is accepted and disease free--and which he refuses to believe exists). The first book is Lord Foul's Bane.

There is a new book out called "Alcamist" which is about the origin of the stone. But its not by JKR. Then again, Nicholas Flamel was a real person. So it goes into that.
You could try the Artimus Heep books.. I think the first is called "Inkspell". It's about an enchanted pen.(well, quill)

Try Terry Brooks' series "A Knight of the Word". They are a bit darker than the HP books but very good.

The lost years of merlin series by T. A. Barron. After that series is over, the great tree of avalon series picks up. I think Barron's better than Rowling, personally. I LOVE his books!!!! I've read all but one.
