Fast food drive thru windows!?

Question

At fast food restauraunts, instead of calling their drive thru windows, drive thru windows; why don't they call them, "pull around, pay, and pull up and wait for 20 minutes for someone to bring your food out to you".

My point is, your supposed to get your food at the window. That is what makes the fast food restaurant that kind of restaurant. Your not supposed to pull up, let your car overheat for 20 minutes and wait for them to bring it out to you.

Ah ... you see once upon a time, all that was required from fast food was that it be just that ... fast.
Now people are more concerned with quality and taste and healthier choices. When a fast food chain brags that "they won't make your burger til you order it", they are no longer "fast" food. They are a restaurant like any other, where a burger takes 20 minutes to cook.
So folks ... want it fast or good?

The food at those restaurants is actually made fresh. They dont have 3 double cheeseburgers just sitting there waiting to be put in a bag. They have to make them. The reason its called "fast food" is because they have tools that make the food cook faster. If you're just ordering a value meal or something, its usually ready within 3 minutes. However, if you're ordering a lot of stuff, it takes time to make it. And if they run out of, say, chicken, they have to wait until it comes out of the fryer before they can make your sandwich (which usually takes about 5 minutes depending on what kind of chicken it is). So instead of making everybody in line wait longer, they pull the car up and give the next car their coffee or whatever they ordered. If you just ordered a soda, would you like to wait 5 minutes for it so some guy could get his chicken at the window? There is a method to their madness.

Let me ask you this. What did you order. I hope you know that if you have a big order, you're supposed to call it in first. They may not have enough people working or something else of the sort. We only have a certain amount of food made, and if you come in ordering 30 double cheeseburgers.. not only do we have to wait for the meat to be made, but we have other orders from the cars behind you and people that come inside to order. Even if your order is small, someone else might have ordered a big order making you wait for your food to get done.

Next time try thinking about this before saying this. Also, this is where you are supposed to ask a question, you're basically complaining about the service.

Well, depends on when you do go there... the midnight to 1 am closing time chains aren't going to be wasting their food (or profits) by leaving their meat or whatever out... so yeah they may be open late but I would expect to wait since the normal rush is not there.... Even a perfect fast food world you'll still have to wait

If you check the top of your receipt, you may find a phone number of the store or the HQ customer service. I would call and make them aware that you are not a happy customer and explain the incident to them.

They only do that when you have a big order or you ordered something that takes longer to cook and so that they can help the next customer.

Haha! Hmmm, because “drive thru” makes it sound much more convenient. Plus, I don’t think all that would fit very well in that tiny lane you drive in. : )
I mean, they already shorted “through” to “thru”...

never happened to me when i order not so much?? only happens when its like midnight n the dinin in is close n we have no choice but do drive thru n ordering 30 n plus sandwiches.......yeah it takes a long time

Sounds like you are looking for a "Fly-By" window. That won't happen unless your into very rare food. Might try "Fly-By" Sushi Bar?
