I think it's dumb. When ruban studdard won nobody talked about his weight but if a heavy set girl wins then all of a sudden it's a big deal...that's ridiculous...i bet if she was too skinny they would be complaining too...they expect girls to look and be perfect all the time. The girl is really pretty and she's only 17...let her enjoy herself.

You mean there was one? The things you miss when yo don't spend every day on Idol fan boards....

There isn't even a basis for a controversy with Jordin. (Except that Melinda should have won, but that's so obvious I doubt it's controversial.) Lakisha is obese. Ruben is obese. Jordin is chubby.

I think it is all really stupid. Jordin Sparks is not what I'd call obese. She may be a big girl, but she looks great! I think the most offensive aspect is that a spokesperson against obesity made these comments. Shoudn't they, of all people, understand how difficult it is to be thin?

Such comments are sexist and a disservice to girls everywhere.

I'm in the health and wellness profession which means our job is to advocate achieving your ideal weight, but "most of us" recognize that it's every bit as important to be happy and self-confident in yourself as a person...in other words, to have a healthy balance in your life.

While I'm not an American Idol fan, the kid that won was vibrant and happy and appeared to be at a "healthy weight" for her. We have to recognize that not everyone in the world is going to be a Paris Hilton in their physique.

The guy that criticized her was what we call in the profession a "health Nazi," and should be ashamed of himself. He was just trying to get attention through his criticism, and to that extent he was successful.

Why are women always described in terms of their weight, size, or appearance? Have you ever heard a male singer, actor, or politician described as being tall and slightly overweight or a petite size 6 with delicate features? Men are described in terms of their talents and achievement most of the time. Personally, I have taught enough adolescent girls with eating disorders to make me thrilled to see someone they can look up to like Jordin.

its pretty lame. about half of America has weight problems so why argue with the Idol winner?

None of the three girls/women in the final four were runway models, but that's not what the contest is supposed to be about, is it?

It's retarded. Jordin is not obese. She looks great. Where was this smart @$$ and their comments when Katherine McPhee 's bulimic @$$ was on stage?
