I was told that it's not ok to tell a woman she is ugly, because she might get demoralized, but it's ok to tell a man he's ugly. Why? Why don't women consider the fact that there might be sensitive guys out there? In fact, most guys are.

It's not OK to verbally abuse anyone. I have never said to a guy you are ugly. I was raised right I talk about people behind their back. JK. Guys are sensitive too and we know that.

For starters I have never ever told a man that he was ugly. You said it very well men do have feelings and they do have emotions. Sad to say over the years, many in-fact, men have taken the punch, is the best way to put it, as being the great oppressors, a finding which was entirely based upon only a few bad apples from both genders; like they say the bad apples spoil the whole barrel, unfair, unjust, still that's the way it goes.

As I said before, society assumes that a woman's self-esteem is more tied up in her appearance than a man's would be.

I generally make it a policy to refrain from saying mean things to anyone, male or female. Everyone has feelings and everyone can be hurt.

Because we don't cry everytime we brake a nail. But women often treat men as if we have no emotions.. your right. Just stay away from those women. I know women who are very kind to men. I wouldn't waste my time on a women that doesn't respect me.

Because men act as if they are less sensitive/less emotional. Women and society in general are just going by what is put out there. And this example is a little disingenuous - women have traditionally been raised to believe that their value and power lies in their appearance. To wound a man equally you would need to mock his earning power or sexual prowess. It is not the same thing to both sexes so it isn't really a valid example.

And if guys want to be treated as emotional beings, they need to put that out there instead of putting up a front.

(Blush) I'm sorry if I ever diminished your confidence.

I have to confess that the "Fashion" subject on genders miffs me major. Generally speaking, men seem to dress so badly. Then they expect us to swoon? I guess sometimes I do get over zealous about finding ways to get men to improve their hygiene, health, physic, and charm ... IDK, in my opinion men lost these in the 1920's ... or I'm just dreaming. I don't think men should dress gay in heels & wig's (like 1700's) ... I just want to see them have to put 80% of the effort we have to put in ... that pesky "equality thing" and I'm willing to give 'em a 20% handicap too. Showing a little leg would be nice too.

I don't know where you heard it was ok to tell a man he's ugly. Whoever you heard it from, you better give that person a nice ***** slappin.

lemme guess, you're basing your whole theory on what one or two people said & ignoring those that didn't fit in with your pre-conceived notions. because i answered your questions, and i did not see very many that said such things.

so howz about you stop over-generalizing & filtering the truth through your twisted p.o.v. & get a friggin grip on reality! why are you so bent on this? did someone call you ugly or something? well, GET OVER IT!! everyone gets called names at some point in their lives by some immature moron, and most of the rest of us manage to let it go, knowing what the insulter really is--a childish fool.

i think it's just in America. A lot of other people from different countries can take it as a joke, n nothing personal, unless if u keep repeating it intentionally.

Calling anyone ugly is more about cruelty than being insensitive
