Two possible solutions for your shower door issues:

1. There is an aluminum colored paint you can buy that people used to paint their old tin roofs with. It only comes in silver color and can be expensive but any home store should have it - even Wal-Mart.

2. We used to live in an older house with aluminum siding. We had it cleaned with a 50 - 50 bleach solution before painting. Let it dry for 24 hours then any outdoor paint will work. After we had it done, we lived there for over 4 years and never had to repaint it.

I wouldn't think you would choose the first answer, just because I'm not sure you would want BRIGHT silver in your bathroom. I would check out both before making a decision. Also, go to a good old fashioned lumber yard/hardware store, tell them what you want and ask them what your best option would be and go from there.

Whichever you choose, good luck. I'm sure it will look brand new when your done!

If they are aluminum now, why would you want to paint them, it would probably just peel off. Try cleaning them with an aluminum cleaner. I take mine outside and clean them with a scrub brush and spray with the garden hose. Try using Cameo cleaner on them, I purchased mine at Walmart. Our shower doors are 37 years old, original to the house. They still look fine.
