I have come across masturbation alot over the net and i finally decided to ask my parents about it, they said it was a bad thing and that if i ever did it i would be punished, when i asked my friends about it they said it was normal, so why do my parents think its such a bad thing?

First of all, congratulations on being so open with your parents. Some older people have very old fashioned attitudes when it comes to masturbation. I very much doubt that they have never masturbated.
Almost everyone does it. They cannot stop you and neither should they try. As long as you do it in the privacy of your bedroom with the door locked, then go ahead.

Well, first of all, what you do in private that doesn't hurt you or others and isn't illegal is your business. And for instance sex with other can cause disease or cause pregnancy and both effect others. But masturbating can't hurt anyone. They may have some religious basis also. But again that is something you have to come to yourself also (religious aspect). But if you feel guilt then you may want to think about it and research.
It can be healthy. Without baggage. And not done to obsession. As long as doing it doesn't interfere with your daily life. Also something parents don't if it wrong or not so they just say bad. I wouldn't ask my parents, but since you were asking you should have asked them to explain why it is bad. Like otherwise how are you going to know what to tell your children. If you are any type of Christian then there is no place in the Bible that says not to masterbate that I know of.

They probably just find it a touchy subject to talk about with their kid. It may also be against their religious views. Really there is nothing wrong with it physically as long as you don't do it a lot. They may also not want you using the computer for such things as they attract viruses or they feel your not mature enough to handle it.

How strange! Your parents might tell you that masturbation is bad, but I can't believe that they haven't done it themselves at some time in their lives. Your friends are quite right when they tell you that masturbation is normal. It's a safe, natural way to release pent-up sexual tension & stress. Recent medical research also suggests that young men who masturbate at least five times per-week are less likely to suffer from prostate problems in later life. Never mind what your parents say - masturbate as much as you want. Just make sure you lock your bedroom door!

First off... How old are you?
Masturbating is not a bad thing at all, but your parents may think you are too young to learn about it. People in their 40's and up were taught that it was a dirty thing to do. But what do they know? If you like it do it. That's my advice.

Apparently your parents either don't feel you are old enough to be told the facts of life or they have some religious or moral convictions against masturbation. It also tells me you are a minor and I'm going to leave the subject alone without your parents consent.

They are old fashioned and embarrassed. Your dad beats off also. Just do it alone in your bed. It is private and not something you talk with the parents about, or anyone else for that matter. It is private. Wack away.
