If unicorns existed, then they existed within the last few thousand years, because they are mentioned in the bible, but then, so are giants, and there is no evidence of them, either.

If evolution "occurred", it would not have done so this quickly to lose a feature such as a single forehead horn. Most likely they could have become extinct as a species. But this would have left records, particularly bones, and that horn. Archaeologists have found very old goat horns used as head dress for rituals etc. If unicorns existed, then their horns would have been used to adorn the head pieces of important tribal elders etc. and would have been found.

So, the evidence suggests that they did not exist, purely by the lack of evidence they that did exist.

It is possible, but highly unlikely. Possession of a horn would require gene expression during development. Studies haven't revealed that this is possible in the horse lineage and we don't see it as a teratology (developmental anomaly) in horses. Also, no fossil evidence supports that this organism ever existed and we have a good record for much of the horse diversification, including extinct members of this group. The same story applies to a pegasus.

From a less scientific perspective, anectdotes from sailors talk about seeing unicorns; they turned out to be discussing narwal whales.

Komodo dragons exist. they're great 'lizard' style reptiles that proceed to exist an island in Indonesia and are very great, in keeping with probability approximately ten foot long, i'm unsure of the info,. they have an incredible sense of smell and kill via biting their prey, which then succumbs to death from an infection brought about via the poisons in komodo saliva. As for the others mind's eye and an attempt to make sense of wierd shadows and happenings could in all probability be the respond, nonetheless ghosts, a minimum of, do have a undeniable probablility. Unicorns could be a mix of horses and the narwhale's horn. in case you think in them ,then they exist.

No. It is not possible.

The fossil record of the horse from a rodent-sized clawed animal to the present is one of the most complete fossil records available. There never was such a thing as a unicorn.

Actually the proper translation of those scriptures refers to a "wild bull" not a bloody unicorn!! Go get a decent bible - or forget the whole thing!! its only a story anyway!

Yeah of course it could be possible! But as far as i know their have been no discoveries of unicorn fossils, so its unlikely that it has once lived.

The closest one can find are animals with horns i.e. antelopes, giraffes etc....
But as far as i know there is no animal with just one horn!

Nope. Why would evolution just get rid of the horn, why not grow extra legs, wings, three horns?

Nope. What use would a horse need for a horn? Nothing.
