If my husband told me he'd be worried about my safety if I went to a gas station at those times, and asked me not to or said he thought it would be a good idea not to, I'd listen to what he said and do as he asked/wanted -- among other things, he'd have a point.
If my husband *told* me not to go to a gas station at those hours, and/or used the word "obey," I'd read him the riot act. Incidentally, I still wouldn't go to the gas station at those times -- I never would anyway and frankly these days I'm in bed or asleep by then, and I see no reason to force myself to stay awake just to give someone the proverbial finger. But he would get quite the earful. Of course, I'd also investigate whether body snatchers or some kind of aliens were present in the area, or whether my husband was running some kind of high fever and was perhaps delirious, because that would be more than just "unlike him."

Why would I have to obey him? I would chose not to go to the gas station between those hours because I am usually home before 10pm, and usually don't leave until 7 in the morning. Why would I get out of bed to go get gas?

Probably not.
I am my own person who can make my own decisions and won't allow my guy to command me to "obey" anything.
If he asked politely, in a non-chauvinistic way, I might consider not going, but I wouldn't do it because I was told to 'obey'. If I want (or need to) go to a gas station that late at night, I'm going.
But for the record, I can understand the concern.

It depends on the neighborhood and what would get me home more safely.
If I run out of gas in a horrible neighborhood, that is worse than stopping for a splash of gas in a decent neighborhood.
I try to avoid that situation by making sure I am never that low if I am out that late (I worked overnights for a while, so I had to consider that before I got to work...)

You need to be told not to go to the gas station between 11pm and 5 am?

I dont consider it obeying him because I dont consider it a command. I consider that he tells me he doesnt want me to go for my own protection so I would do that for him to show I care about him and I appreciate his concern for me.

He has my complete confidence and trust. If he told me that...then there is a darn good reason for it. I'd want to know the reason eventually...but yes, I'd obey.
