Am 4 months preg and I know breathing through contractions is key. Do you have to go? Not that I dont want to, just that I dont have money for it, money to spare, and I think I'll do fine without it. However this is my first baby. Thanks

I am pretty sure you can read about the breathing techniques or watch a video in the library. Then you could practice on your own at home.

Good luck!

I thought that with my first too. But i'll tell ya. They do help out when it comes time to deliver. Usually they will show you a few videos, look at books and just share with the class what everyone knows. They will usually give you a tour of the hospital so that way you will know your way around when you are ready to have the baby. Its not mandatory, but i would reccomend you go because they will tell you stuff you probably didn't know!! Good Luck!!

I didn't go to any.
A nurse I spoke to days before having my daughter thought I was mad for not having gone to any classes, but my answer was that millions of babies were born before these classes were invented, and they all survived, so I would just trust my body and have faith that it was going to do the right things.

It did.
My daughter was born with no pain relief except gas and air during contractions- the midwife wouldn't let me have it once I started pushing- cruel woman!. I needed an episiotomy, but nothing could have prevented that- she had a large head!

I didn't go to mine because my husband was in Iraq and I didn't want him to feel left out. I did great! I got to the hospital at 8 centimeters and had him an hour later.

you should be fine
